Mission statement

SwissGradNet is designed for PhD candidates, who strive for an academic career in a third cycle in the fields of art, design and film to pursue a four-year use-inspired PhD programme in the applied sciences.

As a general rule, SwissGradNet aspires to allow selected candidates to be enrolled and pay the tuition fees at the respective partner university abroad and, at the same time, be employed at a Swiss University of Applied Sciences, where the majority of the doctoral work will be carried out. The objective shall be to support the candidates for a stable situation, both financially and concerning the employment. However, alternative forms of collaboration are possible and must be negotiated directly with the respective institutions.

SwissGradNet provides one conference per year, lectures, tutorials and supervision for the students as well as advanced training for supervisors.

SwissGradNet sees itself as a discussion platform and knowledge pool for use-inspired research and PhD’s, an association of both academic and applied sciences’ universities in the fields of art, design and film, which foster the further development of practice-based und practice-led PhD’s.
